BVSc (Hons) MANZCVS (Small Animal Surgery) Consultant Vet and Surgeon
Dr Nick Woo graduated from University of Queensland in 2008 and completed 2 twelve-month internships in Queensland Veterinary Specialists (QVS) and Brisbane Veterinary Specialist Centre (BVSC). During the internships, he developed a strong interest in Small Animal Surgery and oncology. After he completed his internships in Australia, he worked under renowned oncology surgery specialist Dr Rod Straw and other veterinary orthopaedic specialists. At that time, BVSC was the only veterinary facility in Australia with a Megavoltage Linear Accelerator for radiation treatment of cancer.
In 2011, he returned home to Singapore and joined a busy referral practice for the next 6 years where he was the consultant surgeon and practice manager. Dr Woo then attained Memberships by examination in the Surgery Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) that same year.
Dr Woo set up Advanced Vetcare in 2017 when he saw the need to provide and pursue a higher level of veterinary care. His previous experiences have driven him to equip Advanced Vetcare with the capabilities of a 24-hour vet service and critical care hospital.
To date, he has presented in numerous scientific meetings and is actively involved in the promotion of continuing education for the veterinary community. He is the chair of the local host committee for the 2018 World Small Animal Veterinary Association Veterinary Congress and the Vice -president of the Singapore Veterinary Association for 2017.
He has interests in all aspects of surgery, with a particular interest in oncology (cancer) and reconstructive surgery, orthopaedics, total hip replacements and spinal surgery. He is now exploring the application of microvascular surgery to provide more organ reconstruction options for cancer patients.
